BRANKSOME PARK AND CANFORD CLIFFS RESIDENTS’ ASSOCIATION

AUGUST 2025 NEWSLETTER

Starting with some good news:

BCP Council’s proposal to “solve” the problem of illegal  car parking  near the beach by, amongst other things, charging residents and their guests to park in their own roads, is at least for now, dead in the water.

Instead, the Council has obtained permission from the Government to trial much higher fines and towaway charges. The trial needs to continue beyond August. Residents were listened to and common sense prevailed!

Not so good news:

Lead by the well-argued proposals put together by our Special Projects lead Vicky Moss we continue to push for some of the “CIL” (Community Improvement Levy) extracted from developers in our area, to be spent on much needed road safety projects such as Zebra Crossing and speed  controls. So far, we have not been successful. So how is the CILs money allocated?

Come along to our August open meeting to hear our Ward Councillor John Challinor describe and explain the process.

Date, time and place of our next open meeting:

Wednesday 13th August

7-30pm,  Committee Room, St Aldhelm’s Church Hall

To celebrate Mid-summer there will be wine, soft drinks and nibbles at the end of the meeting.

There will of course be the usual Planning update and reports on the Associations activities.

Finally, a reminder:

Our keen and active editor of Pines & Chines, Annabel Stemp        (ed.pinesandchines@icloud.com)  is planning content for our Winter edition.   She would especially like to hear how people celebrated VE Day 80 earlier this year, plus of course anything else  members would like to contribute or see in the magazine.
