June 2025 Planning List

June was notably quiet, with only nine new planning applications submitted across the Ward.

Nonetheless, site intensification and redevelopment continue to dominate, frequently raising concerns about scale, impact on local character, and environmental sustainability. While a few recent proposals reflect a more thoughtful design approach, others remain insensitive to context and fall short of aligning with adopted planning guidance.

The Association has submitted objections where appropriate, particularly in cases where design quality is poor or the proposal fails to respond meaningfully to its surroundings.

In addition to local applications, the Association has reviewed and provided feedback on recent NORA consultations, including the Reform of Planning Committees and Build-Out Transparency.

Feedback on the former will be submitted this month, with an emphasis on the need for greater consistency, transparency, and genuine community input in decision-making. With regard to Build-Out Transparency, while we welcomed the principle of greater accountability and oversight, we stressed that quality of delivery must go hand-in-hand with speed, and that local authorities must be empowered to enforce this balance.

We will continue to monitor applications closely and engage with the planning process to help ensure that future development supports—rather than detracts from—the distinctive character and overall quality of the Ward.
