October 2025 Newsletter

URGENT NOTICE: The second Wednesday in October is this week; the 8th, so; next BPCCRA open meeting is this Wednesday 8th October Time: 7-30pm Place: Committee room, St Aldhelm’s Church Hall.

Apologies for the short notice but I hope to see many of you there.

Amongst the topics on the agenda are BCP Council’s recently published proposals for a Poole Town Council; the need to find a new champion for our local “Speed Watch” as Vicki is standing down and of course the latest planning update.

As autumn gets into its stride, the neglect and general lack of maintenance of our Chines, public gardens and Cliff walks is getting very noticeable. We are constantly told that the future economic prosperity of our area depends on “quality “ tourism. Not only do the beaches and esplanade need care and attention, but so does our beautiful hinterland of chines and walks. We are all aware of dire financial state BCP Council finds itself, but the longer the neglect lasts, the harder (and more expensive!) the remedy will be. Perhaps a modest tourist tax and a share of weekend parking fees could help? However, there will need to be some way of ensuring that the money gathered doesn’t get diverted to other uses!

Very shortly the Winter Edition of “Pines and Chines” will be delivered, which brings me on to my last point for this month;
We are looking for a member who will help us keep in touch with our vital group of Street Wardens, and aid the Association in keeping this important function up to date and flourishing. Anyone who would consider this (It’s not too onerous!) should contact me and I will be happy to discuss in more detail what is involved.
