Firstly, congratulations to one of our fellow associations, the Canford Cliffs Land Society, on reaching its 100th birthday.
The role of Residents’ Associations in their various forms remain vital; the pressures from developers on our area are relentless and the behaviour and performance of our local Council needs constant monitoring.
Last month I highlighted the fact that we seemed to be unsuccessful in winning CILs (Community Infrastructure Levy) money for any of our well argued and important road safety projects.
At our recent Association open meeting, our two ward councillors John Challinor and Gavin Wright can a very full explanation of the money allocation process, highlighting the successes we have had. They also suggested ways we could get our road safety proposals to the top of the next list. We will follow this up. As always, we are grateful for the time and support our councillors give us.
As the rain finally returns, the problem of blocked drains ( pines needles are the downside of Pine trees) and flooded gutters is with us again. If your road is suffering let BCP Council know, It does have the appropriate cleaning machines.
Finally, a reminder:
Our keen and active editor of Pines & Chines, Annabel Stemp (ed.pinesandchines@icloud.com) has put out a call for contributions to this winter’s “Pines and Chines”. Closing date 24th September
